We are 138 -1948 Daytona Beach Race
Brittany Hacks done her research, I was assigned #138 in D6 four years ago and have been using it ever since. Came across this old photo looking for pictures from a race and always wondered who the guys were and where they were from. Britt sent out an email awhile ago trying to find out and just got this reply.
The rider on the cover of Life magazine you asked about is Al Wilcox (138) of Trenton, NJ. He was racing in the 100m event which took place on 3/13/48. Al placed his Harley Davidson racejob 35th in the race. Behind Al is Norman Teleford (161), of Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Norman, on an Indian racejob, came in 27th. As an aside fact, these numbers were assigned numbers that the rider could use the rest of the year in national level events. Al usually raced under the number 5B.

Joe Gratten aka Pauly aka my cousin likes to dress up in tight leathers and rip this moped down the strip. If you want one just like it go get a 2002 Suzuki Hayabusa
- Staged 3 Velocity turbo race kit
- Multistage boost controller
- Maverick wheels
- Over sized Trans input shaft
- Macintosh swing arm
- Water injection system
- Catalyst bodywork
- Co2 air shifter,
- Extended ECU data logging, what ever the fuck that is.
